You might want to take a look at Tony's ship he is building, in the scratch building section. 
It is a modern RORO ship.

Although I have more then enough plans and information of various ships from tug's to Tramp Steamers, copy right is still in effect.

One magazine you could take a close look at is from England "Model Boats" usually there is a plan in every second issue with a construction article. 
There is also a list of plans that can be ordered from them or other suppliers. 
Information would allow you to rebuild the superstructure.

For the Bow, perhaps you could use styrene sheet to form a removable bow for sailing, but would provide the shape needed

Not sure of the hull depth (6 inchs?) if so you could set the hull down into your water surface (4inchs) to help hide the bow shape.
