"Turning a complete train" was one of those things I wanted to have under all circumstances.

However, if you think this to the very end, you need two such arrangements,
or any train will end up running in the same direction,
with no way back other than shoving it through the crossover.

I solved the dilemma by having a track along the wall of the layout room for continuous running (rivet counters will hate me),
with one return loop on the same level, and a second return loop under it, partially hidden in a tunnel.

As I operate on DCC, relays take care of uninterrupted train running. 

What a blessing.... this alone justifies DCC.
