|Let's say, the left-rail is at 12 Volts.
The right-rail is at 0 Volts.
The wire is at 0 Volts.
The train running from both rails, will go full speed.
The train running from the left-rail and wire, will go full speed.
The train running from the right-rail and wire, will not run at all.
Set the wire to 12 Volts, and the wire trains will swap operation
(12 Volts on BOTH sides of the motor = 0 Volts)
Now we set the wire to 6 Volts.
Both trains running from the wire, will run at half speed, but in opposite directions.
In other words, it won't work well.
Monorail modelers have a one track mind.
