Drats! I had this problem on my former HO layout. I had built the structure on a piece of plywood and had tracks running through it. I needed the tracks to obviously match up with the lead. Grrr. So I cut out the foam and shimmed the plywood directly onto the benchwork until it all matched up, then secured both the lead and plywood base to prevent earthquakes from messing with the alignment. Fortunately you don't have to worry about track height problems as far as operations go. ![]()
