About seven years ago I started to build a small On30 layout. It was basically a loop of track and I was going to have the Christmas tree in the center of the loop. Well I did not get around to finish it back then. It was in the way so I stuck it up in the loft of my garage and forgot about it.

Recently I was cleaning up and found the layout again. It is really just a base board. I had been reading about all this 55n3 talk on this board as well as another. I thought I would give 5.5mm scale a try using this old layout as the basis of a new project.

I like traction and have been building some O scale street cars over the last couple of years. I saw that the Industrial Rail street car was not really O scale and thought that I might be able to fix it up into a nice scale 55 street car. Also the body of the Bachmann On30 street car is really too narrow to convert to standard gauge O scale and have it look right. I thought that it may work ok as a Scale 55 street car on standard gauge track.

So I am adding a street car loop in the center of the 55n3 loop on this layout. Made some three point gauges up to help with the laying of scale 55 standard gauge track. Put down some ties last night and started laying rail tonight.
