I love that photo. The color version is great too.

If I had actually planned to build a layout, and thoroughly researched the options before buying anything, I might have done it in 1/35th. Come to think of it, I could have had a much larger RR by building a 1/35th outdoor tabletop layout all around the perimeter of the yard.

But, my layout came about entirely by chance. I saw a nice G scale starter set on sale at a discount store, and got totally hooked due to the realistic sound. Bought it on the excuse that it could be something the grandkids could play with. After running it around and around on the front patio for a few weeks, I started thinking about where and how to have a permanent layout. The rest is history.
