|A few years ago we went for a hike up into the Opal Creek Wilderness Area,
in the Cascade Mts near Salem, Oregon.
It's a great hike, an easy day hike following a gated old logging/mining road.
One main feature of the hike is to see the old growth forest,
but there was plenty of evidence logging and mining activity in years past.
I have put some photos here so you guys can see some of the surprises I found there.
