17/64 is about 1:45 by my math. Using that modeling scale was an option a few O scale modelers chose back in the '40's and early '50's. There seems to have been little industry support for it. Today, of course, we have Proto48 which has at least some industry support for the wheels and trucks, and some builders offer that option. And we can still use all the 1:48 rolling stock and parts. If I ever decide to build another O/On3 layout with dual gauge I'm going to opt for P48 for the standard gauge so that all the wheel and track standards are compatible.
