Water, wind and temperature changes are the three things that you will be battling all the time. Other than the obvious damage they will cause expansion/contraction of the different materials at different rates. My first layout was inside a room with no AC and 2 very small windows. In summer made hell look like an attractive place...

When the weather gets really bad I can always move it into the garage.  Temperature changes could be an issue.  Will have to see how it goes.
