I quit cold turkey after 27 years and let me tell you, I work for a radiology firm.  Contrary to what you may EVER READ......there is no cure for metastasis lung cancer.....PERIOD!

Theoretically, cancer can spread to any area of the body, and it often grows better in it's area of spread than in it's area of origin ("primary site"). It is this capacity for spread that makes cancer so dangerous. If not treated successfully, it ultimately kills by debility, anemia, infection, and compromise of normal body functions.

The lungs themselves try to heal as soon as you quit smoking a puff.  The more you smoke, the more often you need time to heal.....until time is no longer available.

Quit.....quit again if you have to.....keep quiting until you quit!!!!!!!!!!

Mike

In my case, I have no fear of either cancer or lung cancer. It's not a fear at all; it's my own stupidity. If I could only hide my cigarettes from myself. I think of pouring a new pack down the toilet and the expense. On my fifth pack I STILL  think I can lick it and then I stumble by where they are and light up. It's the STUPIDITY of the addiction I tempted and lost. THE THIRD TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for trying to help.

I am once again a smoker.

Maybe I ought to bust my butt again.

I have FAILED. What a bummer, after going through the hard part ( The first two weeks ) the thinking I have got this beat.
After 5/6 weeks of abstaining, my computer called it off and I purchsed a new one with VISTA. That did it, I started puffing on my pipe for the last couple of days.

This is crazy, I know its killing me.

^Careful, vista might make you into an alcoholic too. It's so buggy and wont be reliable for some time.

easy enough to not start up again and QUIT.

question don, why do you still have the pipe and tobacco around ???????????????????

They should have both been thrown out, that way you cannot just grab them and light up when the mood strikes you.

If i had a pack of cigs laying around and wanted one, whooops right back into it again. Threw out the cigs and the LIGHTERS. !!!!!!!!!!!

Thinking of having the doctor put me into a induced coma for a couple of months, that may break the habit.

The advantage of this plan are
#1  Claim the lot on health insurance
#2 save on fuel costs
#3 Save on the food bill
#4 No dry cleaning of clothes
#5 good as a holiday but cheaper
#6 My wife can not come with me
#7 Avoid the winter months

Desparate Don
