Thanks alot guys some great info and link shows it very clearly,

I agree that you would loose some of the feel of the old time if an electric throw was installed.

That is some fine work.

While I was off I visited the DSP&P rebuilt stub switch on Kenosha Pass Wye just outside Jefferson CO.

It is very interesting to look at.

While it is possible to "modernize" a stub switch with an electric switch machine,
a 3-way might require a good bit more "fiddlin" since then you would be dealing with right, left, and center...
and keeping such a thing adjusted might be what would cause someone to go back to manual operation.
I am sure that out there somewhere, is someone who will or has done such a thing.

For myself, I can't imagine running a funky narrow gauge line with motorized and computerized stub switches.
I am one engineer/fireman/brakeman running one train at a time,
and like the real thing, I "climb down" from the cab and set the switches myself.
I can't imagine anything else being as much fun.

Now, that 4-way will take special consideration, but it will be installed and used as Herbie intended.

Holy smoke, guys, that's prehistoric!!

I doubt if even some industrial set-up would have such an accident waiting to happen over here!

Well done Herb for modelling it.

Gee, Thanks Si. !

Solved the grass mowing--they have already eaten it all.

The area around the house is now well fertilized,
but I'm sure that if any plant has the audacity to try to grow there,
it will be eaten also, or trampled to death, dependent of course on it's flavor.

The mooses (moosies, moosys?) found that one neighbor left the windows down on his car--
they ate all the upholstery by sticking their heads in the windows.

He is very angry --wants me to pay-- offered to give him a moose to pay for the damages.
No go--going to try raising the offer to two mooses today.

I had a sign out front -- FREE MOOSES.
Gave that up, people would stop in wanting to know who was holding them hostage.

I know that you meant well but can you see it in your heart to take them back?
I hear that the zoning people are asking about a new zoo that sprung up over night.

I know that I shouldn't look a gift moose in the mouth--
but do you have any idea how much a large bag of Moose Chow, costs now?
They eat it, bag and all.

Because I am the person that feeds them,
they lick my neck whenever I appear with the food bag.

Having great difficulty removing my shirt at night--
turns out that moose slobber is close to crazy glue--
guess that's why mooses don't "French kiss".

All in all--although I know that you meant it as an honor---HELP!

Herb

When I first posted this thread,
I thought (?) that "Herb's 4 way" would incite the censors or maybe be of interest to Bill Clinton,
until they actually read the post.

Yes, the switch will get used on an as yet unbuilt section of insanity (insaniky...Popeye)
after the heat wave ends and cooler temps come around.
Of course by then, I may be out on 2 wheels (monorail?) a bit more, but the railway will continue.

Throwing the rails in 4 directions may take some sort of rotary device (not some DCC servo motor BS)
which will be activated by human hands (lets me out)
instead of a computer or smart-ass phone deal.
You see, I got it all figgered out.

Now if I can just find that bottle of Jack that Pam hid from me.

Woodrow

Bill Clinton ?
I thought he does O scale.

- - - - - - -

Computer control could be the only SANE way !
It would need a 4-bit processor...
...+ the Herb'O'Switch(TM) software.
(RC & battery operated; of course)

Personaly...
...I think Herb's 4 way could be the basis of a 1 switch micro-layout.
North, South, East & West lines; from a central station.
Maximum despatching action; minimum space.

Suitable (4) for, HO, On30, 1:35n2 & Gn15 builders.

Cheers

Si.

Hope you find the Jack !
