Si-here's another Caso car...a beautiful combine. This one (I believe) is a "one of a kind" that was a test to see what it would look like.  Daniel sent it to my late friend Bill for my birthday. Whatta nice present! Unfortunately the Silver City NG didn't have any such car so she will sit in the display case and maybe get hauled around when company comes. Shay #5 will go through a rebuilding also since the SC didn't have any "T" boiler Shays...also, except #1, no other 2 cylinder locos but that will have to be my secret.

Woodie

Then I burst onto the thread with a DIY solution; http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CO2-LASER-ENGRAVER-CUTTER-ENGRAVING-CUTTING-MACHINE-CARVING-40W-LASER-PRINTER-/321808036566?hash=item4aed40f2d6
There will be the same thing sold all over the world.

Ok this machine is absolutely brilliant for making this sort of thing in model aeroplane ply. Also cuts most plastics and will engrave on painted metals...

Drawing up the project really is no harder than drawing it up with pencil and paper and heaps of free cad programmes out there, it comes with Corel draw. Even simpler is to scan existing drawings and rework them....
I went 1/3rds with 2 other guys and will start to make laser cut trams soon ( as our current domestic circumstances settle down, 1 marriage and 2 funerals have thrown us into turmoil).

Trev,

Please let us know how it works!

In particular, I would like to know how well it will make cuts close together -- structure window mutins and the like.

Herb

You can adjust the width of cut down to .25mm and the depth from 0 to 5mm depending on what you are cutting, it cuts lines with incredible accuracy, and to make the recessed frames around window sashes etc it will reduce the thickness down by whatever you choose, also will run a very accurate neat groove if you wish to insert a strip above the general plane. We did try it to make fake timber grain but it will do it but it looks fake.... it will reproduce pictures in mono... As there is no blade there is no distortion, seems to cut strips down to 1mm wide with no trouble, Compatible with heaps of file types.... The laser tube is replaceable they do not last for ever...
Occre have been using a similar machine to make their kits..

First time I ever saw a 404 Not Found in Spanish--
Do you have a site for the manufacturer? Ebay information is pretty meager.

Herb

For the laser engraver or the tram kits???
for the tram try Googling Occre, there are youtube clips too showing just how "easy" it is too assemble....
For the laser cutter do an eBay search in the US for it, then if needed contact the local seller
