Wow! Check out all these new avatars! Greetings to all you computer wizards. Mudge, Herbert showed me some photos and drawings of and by you some years ago. Looks like you have a whole lot to choose from for your avatar although I like the one I see. Talk about talent! Herb showed me a drawing you did of a lovely young woman. I tried real hard to learn to draw like that but never hit the mark. I grew up knowin an artist friend of my folks that worked for the Philadelphia Inquirer. Since I was little I wanted to be able to draw like that. My hat is off to you, sir! I envy your skills. Thanks for your kind words regardin my layout. This stuff is lots of fun, I've got all kinds of ideas, and the sky is the limit. I miss havin most of the day to work on my modelwork. Unemployment was wonderful! There's still hope, at work they told us that next week they're lettin five of us go (out of about 25). Maybe I'll be lucky and get canned. We'll see, til then it's gettin up at 2, startin work at 4, and bein yelled at to work faster and faster til 12:30. Somehow, I don't think I'd miss that. I'm makin real progress on a dollhouse I've been workin on for a few years too.

I've promised myself I'd be good and finish that before I go back to the trains. A few more weeks I hope, and I'll be done. I've got 2 kits to build for a local hobby shop and its back to the layout.            As far as this talk of bein Crazy? I'm all for it!

When I first looked at the mock-up, I almost busted out laughing. If I told you what that looked like at first glance...

"Why is he modeling a.....nah...c'mon..."  Then I saw the other photos and I realized it was indeed a layout. I wonder if the Bachman Shay would pull those grades?

As long as you go r e a l l y slow up the grades with a geared loco, you should be able to pull them. Try to go too fast, nothing will make it.

Hi John!  Thanks for the interest, I'm fine, I guess.  I don't have a good excuse for not makin any progress recently.  I'm suffering from somethin akin to writer's block I think, and a backlog of promised modelwork that I should have been enjoying.  I keep waiting for that "flushing" sound signaling a fresh start but the clog remains.  I think about restarting but my body is not cooperating with my mind. Don't give up on me, I'm hopin this won't last forever.

OK - anyone know if this project was ever finished? I love unique layouts and was rooting for a successful completion as I followed this thread.

Hey, that's a grand idea! :!: "I made the waterfall section modular so I can pull a 15" wide section out from the back. This way I can build the waterfalls on my bench instead of bendin over the layout. It'll slow things down some more, but I'll be able to put more detail in the falls. More fun and less back pain, can't beat it!"
