Clif-that's a great find. When I modeled in 1:48 scale, finding good looking autos/trucks (inexpensive ones) was a real chore. I managed to find neat ones in drug store toy shelves, discount store toy bins, and near the checkout at the grocery store. There is neat stuff out there. I only found one car that resembled a Model T (I wasn't going to pay 50 bucks for an O scale T kit) and it took some work to look like I wanted. There are some good 1:48 military kits that can be used, but they are a little pricey also.
Now that I am into a larger scale, I can find my Model T, Model A, Chevy...just about anything from 1903 to and they cost maybe 10 bucks..sometimes, the online company has a 2 for 10 bucks deal! Larger models, great detail, ready to weather or just sit on the layout. I looked at Motor Mint's site and they do have 1:43 cars, but most are hot rods and muscle cars but I am sure that a search would turn up more "useable" models.
Keep looking...to paraphrase the X Files-"the cars are out there, somewhere".
