Just because somebody HAS the money to be able buy these large toys, should we spit at , give them the finger and despise him because he is a GOTZ.

So a guy pulls up beside you at the lights with his rolls royce..bmw 750i...ferrari..lambo.....mercedes....ford gt40 or what ever.........do you roll down the window of your whatever and yell insults at the guy because HE IS DOING BETTER THAN YOU !

Lets not get on the GOTZ because your not running with them. Deal with it and stop whinning about the RICHER THAN YOU.

Its YOUR problem that YOU never reached the upper pay wicket , not theirs.

Me , i am a no gotz, living on a meager pension, but i get by without spitting and insulting the guy next to me at the lights. Mostly he is checking out my ride...a blacl lacquer 1935 chevy coupe....that all his money cannot buy mine and i am still driving it 40 years after i bought and redid it.

Stop moaning and get a life

mike

Scratch building is a real art and those who have the patience and determination for this creativity are generally admired in any hobby. I think a lot of this depends on your situation in life. When I did my first layout I had the space and a few bucks so I bought what I needed to satisfy my craving for a train to run. There were 20 people to keep busy in my landscape and irrigation business so there wasn't time for the finer points of creativity and scratch building.

Now ,being retired with lots of time, no bucks and no room it's a different story. I can manage a model boat here and there but trains are on the wish list along with a house. I like building the structures but the rolling stock I will buy as time permits. I just need the authenticity of the mainline railroads. So we differ in that respect. But model railroading is model rilroading no matter how you chose to do it.  Makes for common ground for everybody I think.  Fun too. Pete

What a person does or doesn't do with the money they have or don't have doesn't matter to me. My opinion on this post has been that even though the pieces are a nice representation of one time real engines that particular style of model railroading holds no appeal to me. Thankfully there is only one me in the world and we won't have to worry about everybody modeling in 1:17n30 scale anytime soon. :)

whats the GOTZ................????????

well there is the GOTZ, THE GOTZ SOME, THE NO GOTZ , AND LASTLY THE STU-GOTZ .

The GOTZ.............they have serious money

the GOTZ SOME.....they are doing okay

the NO GOTZ....they are average joes with average or les incomes

the STU-GOTZ...its a take-off on an italien word, i think it refers to sexual organs.

The word stu gotz was also actually a build i did of a liquor store using a yorke grocery store, build #484.

So now you know all about the GOTZ................lmao

Ok I see. However the Italian word is "Gats" as in "bullgats" or "El Toro PooPoo". So ya there's a lot of Gotz around here now that I understand what your saying. Not as much here as in Naples or Marco Island but the town is pretty well off. Lots of gated communities and little villages with 10k sq.foot homes. However all those bucks came from some place else and mostly up North. Not very many people actually come here and strike it rich like some people think. These are people who will pay a million bucks for a boat and gripe about paying $8 an hour to have it cleaned when the job is worth $15 an hour minimum. As a contractor I fought with them tooth and nail to make a living and after the job was done I had to fight some more to get paid. Got tired of that real fast.

:bg: Got to weigh in on this one, it's not that anyone care who has what. It is when a certain few who can easily afford to buy whatever and then have persons come from all over to build a marvelous layout, then put it out on the web, in magazines, and other places. "Look what I've built!!!!". I just want to puke and tell to STHU. Go play with yourself and your fine toys. I don't despise the GOTZ, I despise their attitude. That's my rant and , I'm sticking to it. No offense Mike but I like the Bullgats or the El Toro Poo Poo.

I have one of those as a customer who can afford what he likes, who buys my scratch builds for my asking price.  Never questions the asking price and is a great person to boot.  His layout has been featured a couple of times.  I just delivered 7 diorama structures too him 4 months ago.  The man is so busy with work he does not have time to build structures on a 20 x 45 O scale layout.  His spare time is spent trying to work them into his layout.  People who make a lot of money do not have a lot of spare time, thats why they make the large $$$.

If you were making a railbus or whatever and the person with the money asked you to produce 4 of them at $500 each in his colours and decals, gives you time to produce them.........are you going to say NO YOU RICH GUY HAIRBALL.   PPPPTEW on you...get away from me you would say.??     When its simple money in your pocket for doing something you enjoy and actually GET PAID for it !  Then you must have lots of $$$$, because i don't and it keeps me getting what i want from suppliers like backwoods miniatures for my own locos.

I am fed up trying to even think about those who have wd40 running thru their shower heads and think anything above the cost price of materials is a huge ripoff.

These TALENTLESS HAIRBALLS have no concept about what it takes to build a quality built structure inside and out. They are proud that they squeek but want quality in something but not pay for it. When they try to build something and actually show pictures of their efforts.......its an uncontrolable urge i have to post in a group what hopeless crap they have produced.

Common sense dictates that i do not tell them the real truth....otherwise i might get banned.  As long as they are happy with what they produced who am i to rain on their parade.
