If a garden RR can survive a Hot crucible Kansas sun or the blistering Arctic cold winters,  they'll last anywhere.   :)alley-Gators on the other hand...

I think so... to share with each other and to help newbies by answering their questions. Not a thing wrong with a million questions.

Pete-I have what is basically an HO layout with larger stuff and it survives nicely in the back yard. It gets covered when rain or snow comes but otherwise stays uncovered under the hot Texas sun and cool moon. If not a "dedicated" garden railroad, how about building a sectional one that can be taken down if wanted. Just my 1.75 cents.

problem is, how much do you have to lead these people around and for how long before you get P O'd at the never ending stream of Questions.

People could learn a whole lot more by reading books on the subject, visiting train shows and viewing the various scales in operation at a train show.  A trip to a larger model railroad hobby shop will also show at least N--HO--On30-O and maybe G.  Its tooooooo easy to sit at your computer and type endless questions seeking answers.

I hereby appoint YOU to answer all newbie questions and ask that hotshot or paladin appoint you to that position and create a specific section just for newbies.  You can be the GRAND NEWBIE global moderator.

The only thing worse than a million and one questions is a million and one different answers. We all agree that model railroads are fun and interesting. We also agree to disagree on what gauge to model and I see no problem with that. So your token "S" gauger will now start an "s" gauge topic and leave the narrow gauge to whoever wants it.   Pete
