I am adding more Traction Units to my Fleet.

This one is an HO Scale Suydam - Sacramento Northern Combine #125, "Berry Car". The #125 car was built to rush fresh berries to the city market and was some-times called "the Berry Car".

The model had a nice paint job and decals but was missing the motor and poles so it was selling at a good price. I am getting real good at fixing or putting motors in these Suydam Traction Models so I bought it. I made a new chassis plate and installed two of the new NWSL - Stanton Drives. I used one powered unit and one dummy unit. I have finished the motor instal and it runs very nice. I am having a lot of "FUN" playing with it on my test loop.

I still need to adapt the side frames to my trucks and add back the underside details. The inside of the body looks like it was wired for overhead power at one time. This maybe my first "for real" overhead wire powered car. My local HO Train Club is going to have a small traction area so I will have a place to play with it until I have my own.

I have a lot of options when it comes to re-powering the car. First was to make a new floor plate.

7a. The color in this picture maybe as close to that of my model that I can get.

9. Instal the NWSL - Stanton Drives.

10. The Stanton Drive "dummy" unit has all the wires and track wipers installed for you.

Sacramento Northern car 125 was built in 1908 by the Northern Electric as a combine. The NE was one of the companies that were merged to become the SN.
The NE had bought three Niles combines,100-102, and three coaches, 200-202, in 1906. Ten trailers 220-229 were bought from Niles in 1908 built to the same pattern.
Also in 1908 the NE shops built six almost exact copies (undoubtedly under license from Niles) of which 125 and 127, at least, were combines. The difference between the Niles built combines and the NE built ones was that the Niles cars had the baggage door next to the platform door, then one blank space where a window was missing, then 6 arched windows. The NE cars had two blank window spaces, then the baggage door, then five arched windows. Later, when the car was withdrawn from passenger service the SN boarded over the two arched windows next to the baggage door, and the car spent the rest of it's life in the configuration that the model shows.

Great looking car, and nice work on the repowering. I'm looking forward to seeing it with poles.
