Hello all,
I'm a new addition to the forum and here to ask some questions about ON30 model railroading since I gave in and bought a few items which is yet another few items to my collection.
I don't have a layout yet.  I generally put one up seasonally but then take it down.  I guess you could say I collect things and have N, HO (USA and other countries represented), OO, S,O and Standard items throughout my collection.  Yes, I'm all over the board but I just like things that interest me so I buy them.  Right now the Bachmann ON30 are pretty cool so I have a few new members to the collection.
Anyway, I'm here to learn and ask questions...
LeRoy

Howdy LeRoy, welcome to Freerails. Rubber gauging isn't the term I would use, how about elastic scale? Sounds a bit more so-fist-icated to me!
Have fun and don't be shy.

Woodie

hello members,
I am in On30 modeling as it is NG which is something that I enjoy also I am into larger NG such as 7 1/2" gauge . I am beginning the layout and converting some S gauge to On30.

Iam currently building a NG northern(meter Gauge) which ALCO made for Brazil but it was somewhat of a flop for Brazil. the locomotive has 11" drivers, 9' long 2 1/2 feet tall and 20" wide with a 7' tender and hopefully will weigh lass that 1800 lbs.

As to On30, I have 30 by 32 garage shop in which I build a small layout of about 16 to 20 ft.

What got me to this site was a picture on the net of casting white metal? is rubber molds - this is something I also wish to learn.

to all thank you for letting join the group and I am here to learn and be a member is good standing.

thanks

Steve

Greetings members! I am newly joined and look forward to learning from those who have cut the trail.

I had started out model railroading as a kid in the 60's and 70's, but then life happened and I was far too busy with a company I started, kids, scouts, and on. Having retired, I have decided it is time for me to get back to what I really enjoyed. I've collected a bunch of stuff over the years and not had time for. Also, being a electrical engineer, I have a lot of experience with small circuits, processors, control systems, remote control. I designed rugged multiple camera surveillance systems which were designed to work in hot sandy places, everything from power supplies to control systems to image processing systems.

My current focus is getting my basics improved (modelling, etc.) and my dream layout will all be power on board. I have LGB (with power on board I can make a garden railway actually work), Marklin HO (from the 60's and early 70's, so all is original AC) and a lot of DC HO stuff I have collected over time. I have only one DCC locomotive which I bought because it was a model I wanted for 40 years and I found one. Everything else non Marklin I have is plain old DC and all of it is going to become radio controlled, repowered to drive better and of course - power on board.

I'm on the newbie side of most of this, but an avid reader and I want to get as much info I can.

No photos as there isn't any benchwork or track laid, just stuff in boxes, which makes for boring posts...

John
