I was curious if anyone has built this kit and might know the proper placement of the machinery?  The instructions keep referring to the photos but the photos are kind of dark and very hard to see?  Unfortunately I don't have the Oct 1975 issue of MRC for reference.

Thank you for any help.

Mike.

Is it possible to scan those pages and post them here.

Sounds like the info that LHC is seeking.

Don

pictures and all related stuff i have on fsm #140 small backwoods sawmill have been scanned and emailed to PALADIN to post to this thread or forward to you if he has your contact info.

For your info FSM made 2 sawmills complete with machinery.......the #140 the small sawmill and the #170 SUPER SAWMILL which is a larger more complex sawmill.

The more popular one is the #170, back 10 years ago it was actually fairly rare for the #140 to show up on ebay for sale for some reason.

Thank you very much Mike!  I have both the 140 and 170 kits and selected to build 140 first.  I also have Sierra West Twins Mills completed.  I hope to have all three on my layout by next year.

Thank you again,

LHC

Long Horn Caddy and others,

Great for research on your question, currently there's some rather good color photos of a built diorama of FSM kit #140 on that auction site *Bay,

Do a search for tittle: FINE SCALE MINIATURES BACKWOODS SAWMILL KIT#140 BUILT.
I have no interest in this auction, but it is scheduled to end 9-11-11 at 6PM PDT. After that you will have to search for it's photos under "completed auctions".

This built-diorama seems to be built consistent with the FSM Ad in MR Oct 75, except for the inverted orientation of the log storage rack along RR tracks at front of sawmill. Which I do not understand why the modeler would have modeled it this way, as it wouldn't make much prototypical sense?

Thanks PD. I finished the kit and diorama a couple months ago. Thank you though, the eBay kit looks nice!
