We all enjoy seeing pictures posted by the members- it lets us know what others are doing, which is always interesting.

With the new system, photos are stored on the site, and each photo takes some storage room (called bandwidth) Once we have too many photos stored, we have to buy more bandwidth. Just starting out with this new system, it will take a good while for us to get to that point--but we would like to put it off as long as possible- so instead of posting 12 pictures nearly the same,we would appreciate it if members would pick the best couple out of the bunch and  post those.

This wouldn't apply, of course, to a series of step by step construction photos, or a series of shots of different scenes or objects.

Thanks for keeping this in mind

I am following the sticky. Going to gallery. Clicking upload. Browsing for the file. Clicking upload after 15 seconds the window opens says error oooops. The file has to be in a gif, jpg, or png. Format.
The pic is 492k. And the directions say it will resize it.

Dodge.

When you upload pictures from your computer, the page will allow you to upload/browse. you will then need to upload to the gallery. There is a upload button at the very foot of that page. Click it and the pictures will be uploaded to the gallery.
Uploading may take a few moments.
Downloading from the gallery is instant.

The gallery will build into a record of all the pictures you have used for freerails. Very handy for future reference.

I prefer to resize my pictures to a width of 800 prior to uploading. Not important ,just the way I do it.

Don

Do a search on your 'puter for-------   permissions for wwwfreerails.com

Make sure "load images"  has "allow"   clicked.

Other than that , must be something about trying to upload from desktop.

Hi Dodge,

That message means the system was unable to identify your image as being in GIF, PNG, or JPG format. Other formats such as BMP and TIFF and the native formats of Photoshop and other graphics programs are not supported. Make sure that you are saving the image in JPG format.

Another possible reason is that your image file name ends in .jpeg instead of .jpg

regards,

Martin.

So...... I succeeded in uploading some photos, the very first time I may add! Slick and easy. The question I have now is how do I get out of the "default" album? BTW, the photos are in my *usavet48* album. Check it out and let me know if I did good.

Dan

Sent this time from my laptop!

Dan, to post the photos, go to the forum you want and click on POST NEW TOPIC. Write any copy you want, hit ENTER to move the tab down, then click on the big G on the bottom right of the 2 icon lines at the top of the message field. You will go to your gallery, put the pointer on the photo you want and hit ENTER...it will appear in the post. You can add photos to any thread already in progress, just use the REPLY button, not QUICK REPLY and it will work the same. Once you have done, you can PREVIEW the post before posting it. There are prompts that help you with this. Give it a try.
Woodie-a computer doofus who knows how it works

Not only have you slain the upload dragon, but that car to barge facility is a super model!!

Ok--to create an album, in the bar at the top of the page, click Menu. This opens a small window. at the bottom, click on Gallery. This opens a page in the gallery with your photos on it. Find, and click on Folder management. This opens a page with your folder names, and the number of photos in each folder. Down at the bottom you will find "create new file folder". Fill in name of folder, and hit "create"

Be careful when uploading new pix to select the folder that you want them in. It's a lot easier to put them where you want them then, than to move them afterwards. If you do not select a folder, they will go into the default folder--by default (clever, wot?)
