Just finished reading a new book for the 3rd time The book is called ELK RIVER COAL AND LUMBER COMPANY written by Brooks Stover It is a must for anyone who is interested in logging and mining in West Virgina It is a detailed view of both the BUFFALO CREEK AND GAULEY railroad and ELK RIVER LUMBER COMPANY I highly recommend reading this The book can only be found at Brooks Stovers buffalocreekandgauley.com This is perfect prototype to model Main line interchange Logging and mining all on the same railroad and it doesnt need a football field to model it For those who have never visited buffalocreekandgauley.com Please do you will find a ton of information on one of our favorite subjects Thanks Paul
You also might check out Mann's Creek Narrow Gauge. What else but narrow gauge, mining, logging, interchange with the C & O, and funkiness en extremis. This would also make a great model and there are HOn3 and On30/3 kits for the ore cars already available. And one other is Nevada County Narrow Gauge...same stuff except it interchanged with the SP. There are several pieces for this one in different scales.

I have considered the Manns Creek but being narrow gauge almost everything would have to be scratch built and other than the 2 small 0-6-0s the line started with you only have 2truck Climaxs and 2truck shays to choose from BC&G-Elk River lumber gives you a much broader range of equipment with most of it available over the counter Paul
