What's the view on these, then? As you might possibly expect, I am a fan of dirty ones, but to what degree? Would anyone like to share their favourite pics? I guess I should at least get the ball rolling, so here's one of mine:

Clive-depending on the dirt of your line, I might prefer a lighter color on the lower part. Here's a brass HO Reading 2-8-8-2 that I painted for another gent. It is weathered with chalks to represent a coal hauling loco.




See how the dirt is kicked up by the wheels and really is just in areas that might get some dust, etc. thrown up from the track. This is why I like the chalks, it is a bit more subtle than weathering by airbrush attack. My opinion only.

Very nice work, Woodie. Especially considering the scale. Do you have any 'how-to' step-by-step pic sequences showing how you got it to that look?

Edit: I just realised there is a separate forum all about weathering and stuff, sorry.
