Hey guys, I'm new on here, just though I would post a new layout I'm building. Its a small 13x35 inch 3-2-2 inglenook in on30. It is my first layout (not including a 2x4 n scale layout i started with my dad that never got finished) made mainly on my own with a little help from my father who also models and help from a very understanding wife. It was made so I would have a place to run trains and to practice scenery and other modeling skills until I have space to build something bigger, maybe a 2x4 or a 2x6.

The base board

Base board stained and track laid out

ballast down

Track down

Some scenery

More scenery

A overall shot to get a fell for the size

And here is some of the equipment and structures on the layout

Bachmann davenport and BVM shorty cars weathered with powders

A small loading dock made mainly from IKEA coffee stirrers, the small shed is made from cardboard and coffee stirrers also.

There will be a larger building that has yet to be built, and perhaps part of an orange grove for an industry, being that i am in Florida. Let me know what you thing, if you have any questions please ask, and any suggestions would be great.

Cody

Very nice work Cody!

I think that Inglenooks are about the ultimate in micro sized layouts--easy to build, and hours of switching problems to work out.

Way to go!!

Cody-nice little layout, you will have fun working on and running it. More photos when you can. As for suggestions...I just have one-be sure to put an engineer in that loco. Then you can have someone to blame when a car is run aground!

An engineer is definitely in the future, what would you recommend that fits well with the davenports? pre-panted would be a plus.

Cody-the choice of engineer is up to you. I make my engineers from "body parts" so each is an individual but then I build in a larger scale so that is an easier project. I might opt or two guys in the cab, the engineer and maybe a brakeman...or even the engineer's dog. Imagination really works in this case. Guys in the cab are my "agenda" these days. I have looked at some wonderul, finely detailed locomotives which looked like models because they had no crew in the cab. I have looked at locos right rom the box but with a crew, they look far more realistic than the one with all the details. Have fun, your layout will make you happy.....

New update, due to some track problems I pulled up all the track and ballast and started new. HO scale cork road bed that has part of the middle cut out the make it narrower is going down and track will be cleaned and relaid.  Hopefully this will solve my problem. I also decided i didn't like the gravel road the way it was so it got taken up too. More updates soon.

Ok, lots of work has been done, It is now mostly compete with just some minor details to be added, and also figures.

Sorry for the delay in pics, just moved and our son is due next month! So life is a bit crazy right now.

The trees are a first try and will be updated/replaced at a later date.

As you can see I switched the side rod loco to a different one with a coyote flats depot box cab kit, and it is also R/C.

All in all I'm very happy with how it turned out for a first try. Any suggestions would be great.

Cody,

I really like what you have done here.  The Box Cab is wonderful!!  I love those things, I have two myself, could watch them all day.  The Inglenook looks like it will be intresting for hours.

Again GREAT JOB :rah: on the Micro!!!

Ryan
