It's hot as hell down in the canyons but tourism is a big thing on the Gila Tramway. Here are some photos of a "typical" day.

GT #13 and tour car leave the Mogollon Railway's yards and pass the new siding which will have the GT's station installed sometime soon.

The train passes Tillman's Model T parts, the passengers get a good look at all the old Ford parts.

Now on the "low line", the train is passing the Chupacabra mine on the "hi line".

The train has passed through the Caldwell Escarpment tunnel and is heading to the Gila clif dwellings. On the left is the la Hormiga Loca (crazy ant) mine.

The tourists get to see the Gila clif dwellings. The train will stop here for an hour and "box lunches" will be served.

#13 backs the train into a siding just below more cliff dwellings. There's a turntable just below the cliff which is part of the Gila "wye". After some time here, the train will head back to Mogollon for drinks at the Bloated Goat #2. We hope you have enjoyed the trip.

Glad to see that Tillmans has had enough more junque  piled up to remove the "yard sale" effect.

In the first shot, what are the chassis over on the left side? Ex dump cars??

Hot enough without lookin at that scenery. Coach needs airconditioning

Yep-dump car chassis and other craaap. And the a/c? That car has 8-15 air conditioning...8 windows at 15 MPH. The car is full of Ar-kee-ologists and outlaws, they don't worry about no heat!

I would bet dollars to donuts that those pics were taken early in the morning.  It is way to hot to be shooting pics in the afternoon.  And to think this week will be hotter with temps near 110.   Care to join me for fried eggs on the driveway?

I would have made a Christmas run this year but "real life" sort of got in the way. This morning (12/25/12) it is raining here in Big D and this afternoon we have a forecast of freezing and snow! That's what is called Texas Weather...wait a minute and it will change. That's the news from aong the Gila Rim...

Merry Christmas from the crew

Merry Christmas Woodie !

Last year it was -10c here with snow !
Today...
...+10c kinda sunny.

Never can tell.

As Bob Dylan said :-

" I don't need a weather-man to tell which way the wind blows "

" and watch the parkin' meters "

All the best.

Cheers.

Si.

The pump don't work cause' the vandals stole the handles.

We had a great Christmas and will be out for new years eve...I am starting to feel like a "40 year old" again..???

Operations are on hold at the moment, the new engineer has too much "outside" work to run the tour train and besides, it's cold as h#$$ outside and we ain't gonna fire up old #13. Spring can't come too soon. We are planning a memorial run for Bill sometime after the first...there will be photos and verbage then.
Take care,
Original Outlaw
