OK, let's see if I got it right: there's a channel with a chain inside carrying the magnets that follows the road, road itself is static. Vehicles just drag over it chasing the magnets.

That's it!

I fancy having a go at it myself, but I would be sticking to Z scale... I'd love to see someone have a go in HO scale.

Hot Wheels makes a pocket RC car That has tracks and also with wheels they use skid steer to turn I am thinking of using the tracked running gear under a steam shovel to move around a clay pit this would also work for a crane moving around a junk yard or construction site So far I have been to 3 walmarts and havent found the cars Slowing the mec down would have to be done

Have you thought about using one the many RC tanks that are on the market?

Here is a link to a log loader mock up I did with one in Sn42 - inspired by Mike Mulligan and his steam shovel!

Woodie has a Cletrac 'dozer built from a RC tank--he pushes cars around his smelter with it.

John-there are photos of the Cletrac somewhere on Freerails, but I don't remember where. I have only uploaded several hundred photos here...I will attempt to look later.

***later came and I was able to find this one. The Cletrac was built on an ECO MAN little tank (I cannot find these now) which sold or $7.77 at Fry Electronics store. I just whacked off the turret and built a superstructure that resembled a Cletrac tractor. They were pretty small (some of them). This is 1:35 scale, Porter #3, Rosa, is just behind it.

OK, there is a way to slow the mech. down. The little tank I have gets charged from the transmitter with 4(?) AAA batteries and stock runs too fast. I rewired the "batteries" (capacitors) in the model to parallel, therby making the thing run on half the voltage but it runs about 10 minutes now! Tinkering will help here.
