I think what I liked about the Den Haag PCC's is their Narrow Gauge look. When Funaro & Camerlengo offered their one piece resin HO (Pacific Electric PCC Car #5000-5029) I bought two. When I got them I didn't care for the body style they modelled and put them away.
Then when I saw the Den Haag PCC's I thought about doing a kit bash. I would try and turn one of the F&C PCC's into a model that looked like the Den Haag. With a lot of comments about PCC's on the hotractionmodeling Yahoo Group I decided to give a Den Haag a try. I got out one of the my PCC models and started cutting. What I hoped for was a narrowed version of the standard PCC and to try and capture the spirit of the Den Haag design.
I have more or less finished the cut and glue modifications to the body and top.
This is obviously a Traction Model but I am not sure what gauge it will end up being yet. I think it could work as an HO, HOn3 or HOn30 model. It just depends on what I can come up with for power trucks. I can tell you all now that the chance of it running "Hot" over head wire is much higher for HO and HOn3 then for HOn30.
I have the body and a new top for my Den Haag PCC Bash in the more or less finial stage of construction. I have ordered two different N scale power trucks from a Japanese eBay seller. These power trucks are used on a lot of different HOn30 models and are said to run really well. I will check them out and see if one of them will work.
While I wait I will add a bit of body filler and give the body a coat of primer. I drilled out the hole for a headlight and will get a small LED installed for that.
The next two pictures show the Stanton Radio Control Receiver and Team Lois Battery. I will be installing these in the Den Haag PCC.
While I am waiting for the power trucks to arrive from Japan and have installed one of the older N scale power trucks that I had on hand for something else. This gives me an idea as to how I will install the new power trucks when they arrive.
I even ran this version on a small N scale test track.
30. The PCC Body is just sitting on the power truck.
