Wolfman asks: "Is it possible to use a NCE Pro Cab wireless throttle to run an rc battery powered train?"
The simple answer is "No" because the NCE wireless throttle communicates with the ProCab command station, which communicates with the loco thru the track. The purpose of battery power is to eliminate to need for rail to wheel electrical contact and its associated problems. Without rail to loco electrical contact, the ProCab master station cannot communicate with the loco.
There's a lot more info available in some of the Stanton Radio threads.
Welcome Wolfman-the truth is out there....as for r/c, you can spend as little or as much as you want. Sound, etc. is possible, battery charge life is limited because the sound eats power. Check out the threads and see what's been done.
