I'm just in the process of finishing a second RC truck (the red one...) it now just needs a new British style rear body - in place of the European style shown.
This has been fitted with a DelTang receiver/esc, which is brilliant, and trouble -free (as well as being a third of the cost of its predecessor). I'm a convert. It's slightly harder to drive with this transmitter, as both steering and forward/reverse are on the same stick, but I dare say on other transmitters it would be possible to split them.
Bid thanks to David from DelTang for the excellent hardware, and some support - which dealt with my stupidity - not with his hardware !

Giles,
Truck looks good. I think I put steering onto the wrong ch for you, sorry. This is something that can be changed if you want to try programming. I think the channel is '2' but should be '4'.
You need to switch the Tx on. Then hold the sticks at center with a rubber band. Then switch the truck on and wait for the fast flash. Then remove the rubber band and count flashes:
1=H No (down)
2=F No
3=P Yes (up)
1=P1 Yes
1=Servo Yes
2=Ch2 No
3=Ch3 No
4=Ch4 Yes
Led should come on solid.

Finally finished another RC lorry to run on TEOTL. This one is a bigger Ford Thames, and has the same motor/gearbox unit with 100:1 drive, and a IPod Nano, or somesuch battery powering it.
the significant difference is that rather than having a 27MHz Micro Tiny receiver, which necessitated the massive arial on the transmitter, and could be a bit 'glitchy' - this one has the 2.4GHz DelTang receiver, which is smoother, cheaper, and has a much more discrete transmitter. It's altogether much better, and much less hassle, and works straight out of the packet.....
Big thanks again to David for just making these things available ........
