I thought that some of you railcar nuts might like to see what visited the Mogollon Railway this morning for a fan trip.

Muj built this cool little Thomas Flyer railcar in HO some time back and just now has done the canvas top for it. The top supports and canvas would have given me the willies to build but Muj forged ahead and made the parts. The car is an old PSC HO kit which runs like a watch and now has a new top to keep the Supt. shaded as he tours the line. Just a delightful tiny model!

Isn't it based on the old Kentron model?.

Kemtron made the Thomas Flyer back in the 1960's but the PSC model got "upgraded" with a better motor and gearing when it was available. I believe Muj got this model in the 1980's when it was a $49.95 kit. The little car is an exceptional runner and by the way, Muj is 89 years old. He built the top with it's framework in the last month. This car is probably one of his more "modern" models, he runs HO and HOn3 locos that were made in the 1950's and 60's. I am glad to be his friend.

Super job, my friend!

You were agonizing over the building of the top, what materials to use, etc.

I think that it came out very well!

I think it's older, if memory not totally rusty I remember seeing ads in MR from mid to late 50's. Jose.

OK 1954 till 1958. I don't remember it however, I didn't get into model trains until about 1958 so I must have missed out. Sorry for the misinformation

That Railcar is very cool. Hope I can do that kind of modeling when I'm that old, way to go.
