I thought it would be neat to start a thread of photos of first layouts. Like the one you had when you were a kid or a ny first layout that you might have built.

I will start with a couple of photos of the layout that my dad built me as a four or five year old. For the first few years the layout was only set up around Christmas time. Then later on it stayed up year round and was expanded etc.. My first trains were HO scale European prototype made by LIMA in Italy as that was all that was available to buy in Taiwan where we lived at the time. The power pack was a battery unit. It did not plug into the wall.

That is me with my hands on the cars.

This is how it looked a few years later.

I would like to see photos of other folks starts in the hobby as well.

Golly Phil, I would love to have old photos of me as a kid with my trains...but that was before cameras were invented and I pulled a cast iron loco across the dirt floor in front of the fireplace in our log cabin... I noticed that you were using a battery to run your train, far ahead of others, even now!

It doesn't matter if you win or lose, its' how you rig the game.
