Hi Guys

Its good to be back.

Ive got a couple of On30 Shays which I bought second hand to increase my loco stock. The Loco I have is item num 25699, the sound decoder is Tsunami TSU 1,000, plus a 1" speaker and  some DCC sockets, to fit it all together.

Its quite a large decoder, so where is the best place to fit it in the Shay ?

I was thinking either under the log load in the tender, or maybe up under the roof. I see that this particular Shay is young enough to have gratings cut under the rear bunker floor so will try to fit the speaker into there

Any comments please, I have fitted decoders before - but not into On30 Shays

Graham

Soundtraxx recommends the TSU 750 Light Logging Tsunami for the Shay.   It is smaller and will fit easily.

I don't have a Climax and Soundtraxx recommends the TSU 750 for that engine also.   The 1000 is good in the 2-8-0, the 4-4-0 and the 2-6-0.
Maybe someone else has opened up a Climax.

Hi Dave
What I will do is fit the TSU 1000 to either a Shay or a Climax and thereafter use the TSU 750, sounds like less pain all round
thanks

Decided on a Shay and its now fitted, will take some pics so you can see how big the TSU 1000 is, the TSU 750 which I should have used is much smaller
