Hmmm, was just thinking about sending Woodie and this forum a photo of a Sacramento Northern TRACTION motor, one of the 600 series, I believe, and stand back to see what happens.
Sacramento Northern motors are interesting in the fact that they get power three ways, pantograph, trolley pole, or third rail shoe. With Woodie's road, I would go with third rail shoe (really using battery powered R/C).
Oh yeah, nice critter, Woodie.

Wayde, the Mogollon Railway does have a third and sometimes a fourth rail...guard rails. Nope, there won't be any overhead or outside third rails on the line, the gas/mechanical is the only IC loco. As wavy and bumpy as the trackage is, the third rail shoe would need to be so highly sprung that the locos would tip over on the opposite side! There's more on this loco coming up in the NGDU-at a theatre near you...

Woodie,
I just picked up a copy of Narrow Guage Down Under and low and behold there is your diesel critter within the pages. Nice job my friend... Nice. 'Course, I already knew that about the model. I'm talking about the article.

Thanks guys, we haven't been able to use #6 in an actual operations session yet but when spring arrives, she will be hauling ore or switching at the shops. I still need to build a fueling station for her and the supt's Model T but that's another matter. And to answer some questions-no, #6 is the ONLY IC loco on the railway, she isn't the start of something new. Steam still rules!
