Hey Espeefan, are your Sacramento Northern motors fitted with third rail shoes ? If so, could you do some close-up photos of those, please ?

Regarding the couplers, I am sure that one of us might have the tools and capability to reproduced a limited run of those couplers, if there was was an original version available.

I know that there are several independent model railroad manufacturers that make HO scale couplers, but I've put off buying from them because I've been searching the internet for Suydam couplers.
If you can get over specifically wanting Suydam couplers, H0 Scale L-505 radial couplers (available over the years under a number of brands names including Lindsay, Kemtron and Precision Scale) turn up fairly regularly on eBay and work well on Suydam cars.

All the Suydam Sacramento Northern models have a representation of a third rail shoe assembly cast into the side frame, below the equaliser beam.

Gutmach, I have a pair of Suydam "interurban wide swing" couplers (part no. S-154). The couplers were attached to a Suydam model I bid for and won a year ago on eBay. But, I wouldn't know who to send the couplers to to have them reproduced for a limited run. Also, I'd feel a bit uneasy about sending the couplers to anyone because I wouldn't be sure if I'd get them back. Suydam couplers are rare.

Thanks for writing.

Everett

Across the Bridge, thanks for your reply. I hope the L-505 radial couplers are compatible with my Suydams. I've already contacted Precision Scale Company and Kemtron. I'm awaiting their response.

Howdy Everett...PSC will answer you soon but you may be waiting quite a while for Kemtron to answer, they have been gone many, many years. PSC does make most of the old Kemtron line and hopefully they will still offer your couplers. I have ordered a lot from PSC and when I do, I call them and talk to a very nice lady who tells me what is in stock, out of stock, or just not available any more. I give her my debit card # and within 5 days the order is sitting on my door step. Very nice service and great folks. It's worth a long distance call to get what you want quickly.

Hello,

Haven't been here in quite a while...glad to see freerails is still here alive and kickin'. I haven't been involved in the hobby very much, lately, except to buy occasional Suydam brass models that pop up on eBay every now and then.

My brass model train collection has steadily grown since my last visit here. I am hoping that I'll get around to painting some of them and show them off in my favorite forum, "Some of my models" started by Espeefan. I still like to come to this forum to admire his custom painted Suydams. Someday, I'll post photos of my custom painted Suydams in this same forum for everyone to see. But, right now, I'm just a collector. Hopefully, I'll get around to painting them...sooner rather than later.

Till then, happy modeling everyone,

Everett
