Looking forward to seeing the RailBoss components laid out next to the Losi pieces (Rcvr/ESC & battery) for comparison.

What was price of 2.4 transmitter?

BTW, how did you fry the Losi board?

Keep in touch.

Paid $65 for just the TX at the local RC shop. The RailBoss unit is listed as being 2.5" x 1.9"... much larger than the Losi. Definitely intended for large scale.

The Losi apparently got zapped by too much voltage when I was test running the Davenport and it hung up on a piece of ballast. Next thing I knew the engine was dead on the tracks. Installed another Losi unit and it worked. However, I'm sure a repeat zapping will eventually happen with that ESC too which prompted my looking for an alternative.

The RailBoss components and batteries can be fitted into the Davenport in spite of their larger size. In addition, the Spectrum TX can also be used with servos that I plan on installing in my two live steamers. So the one TX will be able to take care of all the different engines.

The RailBoss unit shipped yesterday. Might arrive tomorrow or Saturday if I'm lucky as I head back out on the road Monday.

For the large scalers here, below is a photo of the new RailBoss ESC along with the battery conversion module and RX. The Losi ESC is pictured on the right.

The battery pack will likely be stashed on the bottom side of the roof in the cab where it can be changed out quickly as I opted not to get the battery conversion module with onboard charging capability.

Hope to get it installed soon, but with my work schedule and other pending home improvement projects it may be later than sooner...
