Hey guys
Im having a crack at building a Gallows TT from scratch. Thought id post up some shots of how its going.

Deck being constructed

Gallows put on top

Here are a few snaps of my 2-8-0 sitting on the deck. Still needs rail, decking and detail parts for bolts and weathering but im pretty happy with it so far.

Just need to think of a name for my railroad in design and ill start a thread in the On30 area under the railroad name.

Brett

Looking great so far!  :2t:

I might suggest, that where the diagonal tie rods go over the top of the A, there should be a casting to spread the load. As you have it, the rods would crush even oak--the load there is fairly high.

Otherwise--I like it!

What Herb said...and plenty of nuts bolts & washers. Do you have a proper center bearing yet? I can recommend something but it seems that when I do that any more, some whippersnapper has a "better" idea. Let me know if you want my idea.

Any ideas are good ideas. I have the gearbox to turn it, I'll need to find center on the deck. I have a couple of ideas but would love to hear yours. It's probably better than mine.

A 3/8" Phono Jack male & female (if you can find 1/2 " it would be better) for a center pivot with track wiring capability. One of these could be modified for a gearbox but I have always used "armstrong" turntables.
How's that?

Sounds like a great idea for electrical connection thanks for that.

I added rail and decking this evening. More details to be added soon as they arrive :)
