A close friend, Pam, dropped by the other day while I was running some ore cars to the smelter on the Mogollon Railway. She watched a few minutes and then asked if I would let her run a train. Well, I gave her a transmitter and got her familiar with the Gila Tramway's tourist operation. It was just like she had used a transmitter and run a train before. Matter of fact, she remembered which way the stick controlled forward/reverse..something that I forget now and then. I watched as she ran the train from the little depot all the way to the cliff dwellings, turned the loco, and brought the tourists back without any derailments (again, I have trouble with that also). She pulled the pokey 4-4-0 and cars into the covered station and smiled...a job well done! Next, Pam will learn the "ropes" of l&p couplers and switching the mines. But I was flabbergasted that a nice lady would like to operate one of my beloved trains! So, the Mogollon Railway has hired another engineer and the EEOC will not have any problems with me.

Now I am wondering if there are other female operators (train operators) out there. I know there are some somewhere, are there any here on Freerails? I will post a photo of this neat lady as she runs an ore train just so everybody can see that it is true-I met a girl who likes to run trains! Now, wait till she hears Mopman cuss the stinkin' couplers!!!!!                                           Woodie

In the RC world girls are few and far between too but the ones you find are very good at it. They seem to have a knack for developing fine motor skills.

Mike-she really took to the job. Maybe I should point out that this girl is 50, but at my age, she's a kid! We'll have fun, fun, fun till daddy takes the T Bird away!!!

My wife is 50 and she's still my girl. Have fun, Woodie. Just don't hurt yourself. ;)

Well these might not be model trains or on freerails but they are most definitely female locomotive engineers.

Now you've done it! I need to buy Pam some overalls. You can't not love a girl who likes to run a steam locomotive.
Thanks for the cool vids...

OK, just to show that the Mogollon Railway has indeed found a female engineer, here's my buddy Pam.

The layout is covered up right now since we have had some light rain and I have this big smelter project going. Pam likes to run little #3 Rosa at the smelter, the management will let her do whatever she wants to do.

No way, Woodie.... You expect us to believe that! That's just your care giver and she's humoring you by letting you take this picture. She caved in after your incessant begging for the last two weeks. Now you get us a picture of her actually running #3 at the smelter and maybe...... We'll believe you. ;)
