I think that Spam--the kind that comes in cans--has been given a bad rap.

Slice thin, fry, then put between two hunks of rye toast with some yellow mustard.*

Not a bad sandwich--but then, I open a can of soup and eat it cold because sticking it in the microwave is too much trouble.

* Gray Pupon may be substituted

HIYA..

I agree 100%!!

Folks think that it is awful just because of the name.

#1.. it can last in the pantry or car trunk for years.

#2.. a tomatoes and some Mayo makes a great sandwhich.

#3.. when ya plan ahead for the unexpected and when that happens ya go to bed with a satisfied appotite and not a growling belly. Ya get that " yep I planned ahead and survived " big head rush...
The fast food junkies sorta fall short on that note...

So..... back to trains....

I bet ya could stick a can of it on the backhead of just about any steamer or the exhaust manafold of a petrol loco and have a nice warm meal in a pinch..... but ya better crack the seal on the can or
ya 'd get a hot meal bomb..

..ROFLMAS!!!

I used to gross out my Boy Scouts by eating a "Spamcicle," a largish chunk of Spam on a popcicle stick.  :glad:

HIYA....

Yep.... the way I figure it, you should have AT LEAST 10 cans per person in the household PER PERSON bare minimum PLUS BEANS, same ratio for at least 2 weeks!!
Now I live in KY, so there is not a real need to stock pile pallets of water.... A good water filter will do if you get to the point of drinking the Ohio river..
And that leads to the next part....baseball bats work better on zombie conductors than bullets but you can't beat a 12 ga pump with copious amounts of number 1 buckshot.. stay away from big knifes because their blood splaters can be infectious...
Anything else you might want to find will be in U.S. ARMY Field Manual 99.9 . Zombie defensive posture and proceedires....
If you go by the above information you might make it till the feds roll in and "officially " tell you your screwed... Have a nice day...
