I've been a model railroader all my life and at this stage of my life I've been focusing on traction modeling. I have a 4'6"x4'6" HO trolley layout featuring the San Diego Electric Railway. You can follow my progress at my blog:

dan-d-spark.blogspot.com

I'm also an active member of the Southern California Traction Club:

http://www.trainweb.org/socaltractionclub/

Scroll down to see a video I made of the clubs modular layout.

I look forward to productive participation here.
Thank you for having me!

Howdy Dandy and welcome from down in Texas. I know that you will enjoy Freerails, I believe it to be the best on the net. We need more trolleys and electric railways so don't be shy...if you got em', send em'.

San Diego Electric !

Some of the Birneys ended upon on the Northern Electric, up in Chico. The Northern Electric became the northern end of the Sacramento Northern system.

Welcome to the forum, Dandy. I am from the San Diego area, Mission Bay Senior High (Pacific Beach) class of 1979.

Strange... try googling "Dan D Sparks", you'll get plenty of results. Or you could just turn the monitor upside down.

Gutmach- Diego in the house! Grossmont High '81. I was right in the middle of modeling this Birney when I discovered that its prototype still exists! Its wearing Sacramento colors at the Western Railway Museum near Rio Vista. But still! Figure the odds!

Sorted..... And if I may say so Dan a very proffesional blog it is too, given me feelings of total inadequacy.....
All the Birneys that ran in Australia (some still running) had only 1 pole and not mounted on a mast.... Of course the entry doors were on the left....
They are lively little cars on the track too...
