Personally, I enjoy Russ' rough edges. I hold to the theory that I can't be offended unless I chose to take offense (and esteem the opinion of the "offending party" more than my own) ... and why would I chose that?

For me it's more a matter of not wishing to enrich the guy that goes out of his way to make it known that he thinks what I do sucks. I'm just not willing to do that. I'm not going to go make some big negative campaign about it either. I'm just not helping him out any longer with my purchases of his wares.

James,

Link worked fine this time.

Ah yes Mr. Reinberg, I thought that name looked familiar. I was once a subscriber to his Outdoor Railroader, Realistic large scale modeling. Only article I found interesting was the one done by Jeff Saxton on all the Climax's and Shay's. Other than that I didn't care for the magazine, including his "From the editor" and his screaming "Al Akhbar". But that's behind me.

Dallas,

If by 'enjoy' you mean mildly laughing at such absurd remarks, I understand you completely. It's just that some times people like him need to bite their tongue and move along instead of seizing the opportunity to spew opinion and insults.

My feedback that I wrote on my blog is merely to serve as a hint to Reinberg's thoughts about the average modeler to the online community. Someone is interested in knowing about Reinberg, my two cents are on my homepage. I too will not buy anymore products from Westlake Publishing, but I also won't pursue any sort of campaign because I know it is pointless. To be honest I don't think that Reinberg really cares, otherwise he might think twice about what he says.

Shawn-not deleted from here! This site is not one to delete posts, etc. unless they are really nasty or promoting kitchen ware or furniture. Have fun and run non scale trains.

Patience is called for here.

Soon enough Reinberg will find that his publications aren't selling, and knowing full well that the cause can't be something that he did - or said, he will come to the conclusion that the  hobby was far to difficult for the plebeian masses and he was instrumental in "cleansing" it.

That is provided that he doesn't get caught out in a rainstorm and drown due to his nose being up in the air.

No loss to me--I don't waste money on most hobby mags. anymore.

Herb

WC, your trains are models in my book, only on this forum do I see such creativity by you and everyone else who posts. After this article I count myself lucky to be in such a group as this.

I suppose the real loss (at least from my standpoint) is that the magazine is very informative, detailed, and complete. The people who built the models and wrote the articles seem very talented and well deserving in their publicity.

It's the man behind the printer that disgusts me. Well, there's a million other magazines out there, might as well try the next one. If I see Russ Reinberg's magazines I'll simply have to leave it alone.

Maybe someone else can look past his arrogance and read past his remarks without being insulted.

James-it may cost some $$$ but I have found that Narrow Gauge Down Under is one of the best around. Not because I publish there but because the editor knows what his readers want and goes "all the way" to make sure they get the best. Those Aussie guys really know how to build stuff, it is really worth a look. No noses in the air there! Check it out.
