Ok well I have made kind off an important decision. I decided I should try my hands at some detail work, and have decided to make a 4' by 1' 1/2" Diorama. It is just a diorama with mountains trees track, and the norm, just to see how I am at scenery etc. Here is the trackplan. For some reason I cannot post the picture, because it is fresh of of Xtrk Cad. My question know is

A) How do I get the picture on here???

B) How can I get my plan into painter???

THANKS- Chris

Well anywhoo,

It should still have the theme of narrow guage logging and mining to it, and I am thinking of adding trestles as well, that span a river. Mountains will be located in the back, and there will be lush forests!

Thats fine Dave. There is no rush to get it on there. Have to get out to the hardware store for nails, for the track. Figured I should just nail instead of glue:D:) I am really just trying to do this so I can see what I can do with a diorama, then I will know I can build a layout :D

Chris i think you need a file format program to change format to a jpg. you might try irfanview but i am not sure that it will work as i dont use xtrac either.

the program is free however and easy to use for sizing photos and changing bmp to jpg's so you might try it, cant hurt ;)

Chris,

If your plan is in xtrakcad, you can use the "print to bitmap" under the file menu.

You then should save this bmp file as a jpg or gif (this will make the file size smaller).

Hope this helps.... :)

Ok, today I got some nails and proceded with the track! Unfortunately, the nails aren't going the way I like it. So I have decided to just nail it to hold it down then use Elmers glue, I hope Elmers is ok??? After that I plan on starting with the mountains, then I will work from there:D BTW, this diorama will not be operated on, so if the track gets glue on it that is ok.

Chris

As long as you are at it, put the track center at 6" in from the front edge of the diorama.  Then, go for it!  You should be able to hook up to any other modules that way.
