A history of the Dolly Varden mines and the narrow gauge Dolly Varden mines railway.

A great read, lots of photos and drawings.

Plus 2 on the SR&SD book. About once a year I pull it from the bookcase and go through it again.

At one time, this book was selling in the $175 range, but a second printing has bought the price down to affordable.

$50.95 new.

As with Woodie, no connection to ABE except as a satisfied customer.

I bought the book when it first came out, and enjoyed it very much. As a Swede, the fact that the mine was developed by three fellow Scandinavians was a neat surprise.

Last week I found a distant relative who turns up in Alice Arms, home of the Dolly Varden, with the intention of operating a mine. His timing could have been better, though. He arrives the same year the Dolly Varden Closes, because of falling silver prices L:

That layout is now in Florida. I'm not sure of the actual location
