Hi everyone,

I visited the History Museum inside Valère Castle, located in Sion - Switzerland.
There was a pretty nice diorama there.

The information leaflet says this about it:
Reconstruction of a section of the protohistoric town of Gamsen (near Brig) during the Iron Age, around 600 B.C.
Model by Hugo Lienhard, Mies.

That's all the info I've got. Enjoy the photo's.

Hi Alwin

Nice photos of the diorama.

It looks like it might be around 1:32 farm-scale to me ...

... any idea ?

Nice work on the overall scene composition.

Cheers

Si.

Hi Si,

Not sure about the scale. I think its somewhere between 1:48 and 1:32. It looks like everything is handmade, even the figures, sot it could be anything.

And I think that they took some libertys with the building construction and clothing, because there would be no way of knowing--but very well done, non the less.

Hi Alwin

Yes the tiny figures look like amazing 'custom jobs'...
...the animals somehow look 'stock' (groan).

Herb.

You're right...
...those 2 guys wearing the red Manchester United football-shirts in the last photo; do nothing for pre-historic realism.

Having said that the terraces at M.U. do have a kinda neolithic-vibe to them, on a Saturday afternoon.

Si.

The sad part is it doesn't look too dissimilar to many narrow gauge layouts I've seen over the years...
