I know that this is an older thread, but I still feel compelled to comment.
I got a chance to ride on one of these. It was the Union Railroad of Oregon and it was their only locomotive.
Big time stuff.
The loudest thing on these things is the transmission. Inside the cab the sound of that transmission is like to take your head off.
