I had a FB account for years before shutting it down recently. I used it to stay in touch with family spread out across the US & Canada. Being contacted by a delusional exwife that I didn't want to hear from being the primary reason for deactivating my account.
I view the forum format as a better and more widely viewed place to share ones modeling interests with like minded people. I know my family wouldn't have appreciated any of my work as they're just not into model trains.
"If the women don't find you handsome they should at least find you handy".
I have to agree Dwayne as I've had some strange people from my past reappear on FB and I didn't want to get involved with them. Been considering shutting it down also but never shared any of my modeling work there as nobody would appreciate it. This forum works best for me.

I've run into a couple of modelers who used FarceBook for photos and why.
Not very many know how to size a picture to post on the forum. They take the lazy way out. From what I understand is that FarceBook will take a picture directly from the camera and size it correctly in FarceBook for you. It takes a bit more work on the modelers part to get the picture sized for posting on the forum. That's one of the problems with technology. Some just don't care to learn how to use it properly.
I used be on FarceBook. I think I last a couple of months. I didn't care for the social crap everybody was putting on their. I really don't care when you took your last dump.
Probably because running a website takes money, sometimes a lot of money. Facebook is free. But with free technology, you get less than adequate experiences. My facebook is there to serve as a sort of online address book, but nothing more.
That's why I just use a blog, it's free, the quality is decent, and I can post relevant updates without being bombarded by strangers from my past or idiotic replies.
I maintain two web sites, one is free through my phone provider, Frontier. My other I pay for, Kingstone Model Works. Why pay? More control and it allows me to learn a programing language, sort of, plus I enjoy it. It's mine until I decide to shut it down. The public media, such as FarceBook to me is for people who want to spew there life for strangers to see in order to make it to the big time, they hope. The forums are still the best way to communicate with like minded people and no "Guess what I had for dinner last night." Although I've seen a few of those. They didn't last long.
OK, back to modeling.
