Photo of an electric wagon (car) hoist that transfers wagons to a lower level track below & vice versa. Used to be at Moor St Station, Birmingham, England which was a very compact, space restricted inner city terminal.

Photo in public domain from wickywatsit.

Si,

There is, or was as of a few years ago, a magnificent hydraulic wagon lift at Huddersfield Station (ex LYR, ex LNWR) - all on Doric columns - looks like part of the Parthenon !! -
 - right opposite the Leeds bound platform. Considerably larger than this electric one at Moor St. It served a massive (5?) storey goods shed/warehouse (still standing, or was a few years ago).

Cheers,                  Michael

The late John Armstrong had a model vertical lift section at one time. He described it to us as an opportunity to increase the f**k up ratio by about 300%. (his words).
