Carr's Hobby is a  very dangerous place to go into. I dropped $ 500 in  NO time.

I didnt like his attitude tho, so it will be the last time I go there I think.

Todd-if you are serious about having your camper and On30 layout, think about making said layout sectional and install removable shelf brackets on the outside of the camper. Then you can set it up on nice days and keep it inside during the bad weather days. It works for me.

Woodie, Thats a Great Idea.....The brackets could double as an outside Bar :)

Mostly i was thinking for transport to shows of modules.....(gives me some cheap housing to stay in too. ;)

Chris, Carrs is not what it once was when the old man owned it......His Son doesnt have the same passion for trains that the old man did.

He's been trying to sell it for years but he wants like 1.7 million. He didnt have any competition for the longest time but NOW.......There is a Hobbytown USA up over the hill a mile or 2 past Northern Tool on Hyw 53 (miller trunk) up by the old airbase entrance in a little strip mall (its EZ to miss so youve got to pay attention)

They carry alot of HO and some N scale. Lots of Scenery items paints etc.....They are huge into RC & Airplanes but do have a little of everything (including 1/32 Slots ;) )

I havent been to carrs for awhile because of the same reasons you mentioned..Poor service/poor attitudes........I ordered items over the phone. They said they would call when it was all in..2 months later I called to find out if they ever got the items..they said What Order??

Ive been looking at picking up a couple of Mini Coopers to add to my Slot collection but Like the real thing, those who make them are pretty dang proud of them.

They start at around 50 bucks and run near 70 for the digital model.

Well, a buddy of mine was selling off a few cars. He happened to have a Mini that was rather well used was how he put it.

Its missing aside mirror , and Need to be Chipped which will run me 15.00, But he let me have this one in running condition for 11 bucks!!(plus postage)

It arrived here Weds, and Posed for a photo shoot this AM:thumb:

I couldnt pass up the deal and since it was Cheap, and already missing a mirror, I can race it hard with No worries LOL

SO, thats my Latest addition to the ol Car corral........Now, I wonder if I can find a decal of the Union jack for that roof :)

Or This one...:glad:.Its a Re- issue 10th anniversary of the original Model that Fly made..( thats how long its been since this slotcar was last made)

Its the Penske Lola T 70 markIIIB with its Chevy power plant......It won the Daytona 24 in 1969.......was in 3rd at the sebring 12 hour race and had catastrophic failure to a suspension member so did not finish........And was then STOLEN , Truck car the works........It took several weeks to track down the thieves and by then the car was so cannibilized Penske never ran it again.:boohoo

A couple more towards filling out my 60's world class machines.........Add to these 2 those I already have in this Era:

Ford GT40

Ferrari 330 P3 ( 2 of them)

Shelby Cobra

Corvette Gran Sport

And all I am missing are about a dozen porsches , 1/2 doz ferrari's and 40 or 50 other cars :moose:
