Yep, here in the USA, it's "the best layout that money can buy" More like, "the best layout that has no scenery other than ground foam directly to flat plywood, out of the box structures with no painting or weathering. In other words, the kind of modeling I was doing at the age of 14...
There are some good module groups and travelling layout in the US, but you'd never see the quality of work that Alwin has posted here. Maybe one of two layouts at a big show might look like these, but you'd never see that many layouts looking that good, at any US show.

Well we as organisation do our best to present 30 high quality layouts every year. And we have a couple of modelers who do their stinkin best to finish a layout every 2 years. We try to mix and match between the small boxed layouts and the larger layouts. Lot of the public lies to see larger layouts with long trains running..the job gets thougher every year with the 9th upcoming..

But I do believe it is possible to set a show up like this in the US. Just need to find the builders who like to present their layout or build one for a show like this..

Thanks Alwin,
I'll have to give that one a miss unfortunately. I'll be flat out trying to get Stage 3 of Corrimal ready for a 1000km each-way trip over Easter in April. Maybe 2018??
