My P.C. is 7 years old, so I bought a new one with Windows-10 installed.
Everything went well until I tried to run Coolterm for DelTangs Prog4.
This ran OK on my old Windows-Vista machine, but now I get the message:
" Your system currently does not have any serial ports "
I have just spent a couple of hours searching for a solution, but no luck so far.
I could not find any examples online of successful Windows-10 use of terminal emulators.
Apparently Microsoft have a generic driver which does not like any of the current serial port emulating microchips built into the special cables.
If you have Windows-XP 'service pack 3' or Windows-Vista don't throw the machine away!
I think Apple products are OK.
There are lots of terminal emulators for tablets, both iOS and Android.
There is also a serial simulator cable with control chip for android, but it is expensive and as I still have my old Vista box!
