Hi again Doug.

Doug, I am more than pleased to help if I can.

There is no fault going back to the server-crash regarding these photos.

As far as I can tell, looking at Page 11, the 'fat photos'...

...are simply caused by 'Flickr' links to photos larger than you wanted.

There is no way that Freerails can change or alter these links in any way.

If they were simply faulty or 'corrupt' I suspect NO photo at all would show...

...not just the correct photo, but bigger than you wanted.

Since these links are essentially supplied by 'Flickr'...

...bad links must be a problem at their end, not Freerails.

I can't really say much more about it than that.

The situation with 'Themes' will be looked at soonish.

This in fact has nothing to do with the server-crash either.

They were changed before that happened.

The reason they have not been changed back to their previous settings yet...

...is due entirely to my decision to 'watch the board closely'...

...following the problem in August last year.

As a result of this close watching...

...numerous problems have been 'mopped up' without any general comment about them.

The hours are long, the pay is terrible, but we are still surfing the internet rails ! ;)

LONG LIVE FREERAILS !

:moose:

Hi Doug, Si and all
just went and had another look at page 11 of Updah thread  and in post 107 (see http://freerails.com/view_post.php?post_id=89483} the first photo of the parade is wider than the rest of the photos on that page.
Now going to the direct Flikr link at [url=]https://www.flickr.com/photos/33431492@N04/22371498298/]]https://www.flickr.com/photos/33431492@N04/22371498298/[/url] I find under the photo at at left  "e(6) modified by CombineZP"  So lets see if this works- now copying the just original fat photo from the original thread and deleting surrounding text...e (6) by slateworks, on Flickr
Now going back to Flickr and selecting BBcode from under the Share Photo icon at bottom right and selecting size as "Medium 800 by 314 pixels (can use little down arrow at right of size field to select from a range of sizes for your photo) we then have  Copy the BB code and paste directly here e (6) by slateworks, on Flickr

Checking back to see what size the original photo came in as: testing for 1024 x 402 pixelse (6) by slateworks, on Flickr BINGO!! -  we have a winner!!!
Now if you weren't a wake up about the 800 preferred pixel size, then it is likely Flikr would bring in whatever size  the photo ended up when it was uploaded to Flikr, This photo looks like a composite, so it would finish up greater than 800 wide after uploading to Flikr.
Clear as mud, Doug??

HI Doug, Si and all,
I'm sorry but I can't help with the fishy Chinaman. I have photo j0 in post 107 looking like this - (I have included text either side of the photo and am using a straight Copy/Paste)

luggage and freight (white metal castings) were added,

j (o) by slateworks, on Flickr

This photo looks narrower than 800 pixels wide - is probably 720 pixels wide.  For me this is the correct photo in the correct location within the posting.

More Alice if you can still see the Chinaman - He must have emerged somehow from the rabbit hole on Doug's machine??

OK gents, there's an explanation for these.

The parade photo was originally posted at a larger size in view of its width and I wanted to make the content as clear as possible so that one isn't a "fat photo".

The Chinese fisherman has been drowned and the correct photo put in the post by using a 640x480 size. If I use the 800x600 size he magically reappears! Weird or what!

Thanks for the input John but it's most likely a Flickr aberration as you say Si. I can get rid of any other fat photos (I think) by reposting them at 640x480 but that will involve a search and destroy exercise and I'm rapidly losing the will to live over it so will leave things as they are for now.
