Thanks for the message, John, much appreciated.

As you can see the emoticons have decided to work!

I haven't been on here much lately, the rail empire is having a quiet time at present.

So much to do, so little time........:)

Hi Murray,

:glad::rah: :bg:  [toast]

Well when your rail empire starts to get "unquiet" come on back and tell us all about it.

Meanwhile keep dropping in for a look around from time to time.

I don't know if it's just me and my pooter,
but I've noticed that text in posts gets spread into more lines than originally posted,
especially but not exclusively if a picture is also included in the post.

It is possible to edit the text back to the fewer lines originally intended,
and I wonder if there is a glitch in the system somewhere.
Not a problem but just interested.

P.S. This post didn't suffer the problem - Murphy's Law? :us:

P.P.S.  I've just returned to see if there are any answers,
only to discover that the text has now moved into more lines.
Very odd but I also notice it happens at a punctuation mark.
That must be significant.

Hi Stan

Have you tried following the simple photo posting directions I gave yet ?

If you haven't so far then you should !

So should anyone else who wants a Free Members Gallery rather than just attachments

Both methods are of course way way better than using any 2nd rate external 3rd party photo hosts

We all saw what happened when the greedy executives at Photobucket started demanding $$$ scam money

Also your photos wont go missing from your threads as we sadly see here for one reason or another all too often

If your photos are uploaded to Freerails they stay right here with your threads load fast & dont go missing

Like everything else here as well you dont even have to pay a Dime for it

Doesnt get much better than that !

Pleased to report, as usual, there is no  "glitch" in the system anywhere.

Likewise, as usual, no technical  "problem"  to be found.

:)

So is this just me seeing the issue on my computer - it still persists - or do others have the same configuration?

There is no issue

Freerails is visually presented on whatever screen its viewed on courtesy of HTML

This means especially these days that Freerails is viewed on a huge range of screens

From regular average computer or laptop screens to huge panoramic widescreens

Tablets and suchlike with everything from modest screen sizes to huge megapixel ones

Also the Site is viewed on all manner of cellphones of many different makes and systems

A problem arises with presentation when long lines of text are viewed on different devices

It means that on the same screen a photo can be 800 pixels wide and text 3840 pixels wide

Very long line lengths or huge blocks of text without any line returns prove very hard to read

To improve the readability of Freerails on multiple devices sometimes line returns are added

In every instance the readability and presentation on vastly different screens is improved

" Still having problems.

I can upload to the Gallery,
but when I copy an uploaded image and paste it into a Reply Window,
a URL appears which when clicked on yields a 404 message.

Running Mac OS Catalina 10.15 and Safari."

Hi Stan

I have copied your above post from earlier today over to here in the thread you started

Never heard back from you after I posted a lot of Gallery advice here

Have you looked at the information in this thread and followed it carefully ?

I have looked at specifically what you seem to be doing wrong

Your photos have been uploaded to your Members Gallery just fine

To copy them to your Main Reply Window

You should click on the Members Gallery photo thumbnail to enlarge it

You should then use your computer mouses COPY and PASTE procedure

You simply click COPY over the enlarged Members Gallery photo

Then simply click PASTE where you want the photo in your Main Reply Window

You seem to be creating an actual link and then trying to PASTE that in as an image

No link is required and one should not be seen in your final post

You quite simply COPY a photo and then PASTE that photo

This method can also COPY and PASTE any photo from anywhere on Freerails Forum

Give it a go I am sure you will manage it OK

How are multiple photos put into a Post from the Members 'Gallery' ?

And do reply photos, from others, need to be from the 'Gallery' so they are visible to non-Members ?

Regards, Dave L
